Keep Auckland Moving

The days of council rates and government taxation being the default funding instrument to deliver a mass transit system befitting an international city are fast coming to an end. Auckland’s challenge is to interrogate new methods for funding the multi-billion dollar transport projects in the Auckland Plan.

With the launch of Keep Auckland Moving today we get to restart the conversation. It won’t be an easy car ride finding a new way forward but critical we work together in finding new revenue tools.

In reply to your invitation to comment on the Keep Auckland moving
I think Mr Len Brown the Mayor and his collegues at the Auckland Council should come down to earth from their dreams.
You are driving people to suiside, alcohol, mental health and putting an additional pressure on the old age people with your ongoing cost increases.
The old age people struggle to afford heating in the winter and maybe have one dollar per day for food.
I suggest that Mr Brown tries to live on $30 – 50 000pa and experience all the peoples misery when they are unable to put food on the table because their money is diverted to the ever increasing rate, electricity and water costs.
The pensioners live on $300 per week.
How are they expected to cope with your proposed continual and substantial rate increases?
It appears you don’t care because you are earning a very high salary with yearly increases
I belive you must stop people coming to Auckland because Auckland is already overcrowded.
Other Cities in NZ need to be developed = not only Auckland.
Auckland streets are not wide enough to carry traffic in the suburbs. Raither than putting an additional burdons on people you must create more car parks around the Bus stations so peole don’t have to take up the nearby streets for parking and make the streets dangeorus to drive on.
The Council should show their skills and forsight and manage the existing budgets available to them ( as every family have to)
In difficult economic times this is what I expect from the Councillors ( not put more increases on people that they can’t afford)
If you put more car parks around the Bus Terminals you can run more buses during peak hours and get the traffic moving.
As the Major for Auckland you are facinated with spending capital money rather than mainintaing the status quo.
The Council approach is making peoples lives more difficult in this international recession.
You are acting like we have plenty of money to throw around on Taxes and Rates.
Please come down to earth from your dream and drop your salary down to the avarage person’s salary level
NZ is not a rich Country. Only a handfull of people earn big bucks the rest of us are suffering.
How far are you will push us?
Just because you have a big dream you put the cost on the Citizens and you don’t care about the consequences, you just want your dream to materialised at any cost – even you are distrowing peoples lives
    Sincerely
    A concerned citizen.
